Hello forum,
I have a chance to buy a GN rear end in my area. My car is a 78 MC with a rebuilt 305 and edelbrock top. Th200 trans, nothing special but it shifts good (eventually want a 700r4 conversion)

The rear end is listed as a GN posi rear end with 3.42 gears and aluminum drums. It looks as if it is attached tova car still. I have contacted owner and am waiting for a response. Seeing as its late, maybe tomorrow.

Should i buy this rear end? My car is by no means a hot rod, but the thought of a gn rear intrigues me. With my setup, would this be a good addition ?
Any input or stories be appreciated

I'd check to see if he has the correct lenth driveshaft, would save some hassle on having to cut down the original one. The other thing is you'll have metric studs on the rear.

I just put an 8.5" behind a TH200, the stock GN/442 shaft is a direct fit.

Thanks for the replies, guy wants $600, says he pulled it out today, willl take a trip to look it over tomorrow. Thanks for info regarding drive shaft, will ask if its for sale also. Hoping i can get it for cheaper, but i think 600 is doable. 5 would be better, but overall i think a posi is an improvement.
