Good camshaft for both 305 and 350?

I already posted a similar question regarding intakes on both engines. This is in regard to a cam.

Are there any recommended cams that will wake up a 350 (not make it a street beast. It'll be a daily driver so it still needs to have decent gas mileage) and also work well in a 305 without being too extreme for it?

are you looking to install a camshaft on the 305 then swap it over to the 350 ? If so I would not recommend it

Get the camshaft suited to you setup ( trans, rear gear, weight, driving style ) and engine

Yeah, cams are so cheap, just save it for the 350. If the 305 works, don't dick with it. Leave it.

If you are buying a crate engine that would be the time to step-up a little and get some performance. Bolt it in and retain the warranty.

The L82 350 cam is what was used in the 305 HO. It also comes in GM 290 HP 350 crate motors....should be a 3896962

That is a good article with a lot of info and theory, but when choosing a cam you need to look at your total package. That is the CID, compression, heads, intake, torque convertor, rear gear, and of course the cam. These all have to work and be compatible for the range your engine will be running at.
