I got fired today, and i'm almost sure it wasn't my fault.

There's only two techs, me and the other guy. We're both new, started two weeks ago. All the old help apparently quit, that should have been a red flag. Anyways, part of the qualifications where experience and having your own tools. The other guy shows up with NOT EVEN A ****ING RATCHET@! And borrows all of the bosses tools. Arg, whatever. I had to spend half of my time teaching this guy things and coaching him through sh*t so he didn''t make mistakes. Tools started turning up missing already and i ended up taking the sh*t for it, i let my boss literally look through my tool box before i left to clear my name.

I'm skipping allot of details here because im just that pissed off, and they seem entirely irrelevant. The under lining reason is because the other guy through me under the buss and lied. Wow, how does the more experienced with more tools guy end up getting fired when the other lying loser is STEALING?

I was told i took too long on a costly job too, We're a collision shop that DOESN'T HAVE A LIFT, and he brings in a 2001 Audi R8L 4.2L V8 that has to have the motor/trans pulled.
I did the job, by myself, NO LIFT, and it took me 7.5 hours. I lost the DVD to my alldata so i don't know what the actual labor claim on that is, if anybody else does have access to shop key/ alldata please for my piece of mind let me know if i did go over the allotted time or not. What i do know is, Alldata called for removal of the front clip + everything as well as forward frame rails, motor and trans must remain together because separation while in the vehicle is not possible. The exhaust back to the cats has to stay on the motor/ trans because again, they cannot be divorced from the manifolds with the motor/trans in the vehicle. IT was allot of work

Sorry for the rant, I've just never been let go from a job for more un-clear reasons in my life.

Damn brudda that sucks. I had a similar experience a couple years back. Anywho I checked alldata, book time standard is 22.3 hours and 14.3 warranty for a complete r&r so if it took 7.5 for removal I'd say you were above book. Let that little fact be a small relief that you can still beat book time with shitty or the lack of equipment!

sounds like you have a case for wrongful dismissal claim. I was involved in a case where the guy was employed for about 2 weeks and got fired. The judge awarded him over $7,000.

Sounds like they probably did you a favor. A professional shop that doesn't even have a lift is a Mickey Mouse operation. The fact that the previous employees quit shows that the place is a crappy place to work.
Good techs are hard to find. I would bet you will find another job soon. I used to talk to all the tool truck people and ask them who is looking for help and what shops are good or bad.

^^
what he said..sorry for your luck but your probably going to be better off in the end
good luck

man that`s a real bummer but if it`s that crappy a place, maybe they did you a favor. tc1959 is right, good techs are hard to find and GOOD shops work real hard to keep them. I`m sure you`ll find better real soon and then wonder what you were doing there in the first place

Sorry to hear that. When I worked in shops I always noticed, "Those who screw up move up" Just open the phone book, you'll find something.

Damn man... That really blows. But hey, your former boss shot himself in the foot keeping that other guy if he's really as useless as you say, and letting you go.

You should go after them for wrongful dismissal like was said, and definitely collect your unemployment... I'd collect it as long as possible and try to do side work, just to be spiteful.

I have access to shop key. Did you mean an '01 Audi S8? R8's didn't come out until 2006

Ahhh...heads splitting. Yeah i ment audi S8L with the 4.2L V8, not the Prototype supercar haha. Well thanks for all the positive reinforcement yall, it helped to hear it form other people that it wasn't me.

I left this part out but, before i started this job everybody around town that i knew warned me about the guy, i even have a friend who manages a local federated auto, for the last 10 years, and he will not open this guy an account because he has problems getting payment. I don't know if i mentioned this in my post but 2 out 3 pay checks i received from this guy are wrong. Example, my first week i worked 40 hours, 8 to 430 a day - 30 minute lunches. How did the check come out having only 31.58 hours? I know it might sound far fetched but i swear to god this is all true. I can't believe i'm dealing with this much sh*t, it's just hard for me to swallow that somebody with a business for Christ sake, can be sooooo un-professional.
