I dislike all 79-80s except the Monte carlo.

78-79-80 were my favourite years for the Gbody because they were pretty much 1 year only body styles ( like the cars used to be in the 50's and early 60's ). You can spot the car and tell what year it was and maybe even the trim package just by the header panel and tail lights. Everything after 1980 for each product has the exact same body style which remained for the rest of the production run until the euro headlights in 87-88 models.

My 2 fav bodys styles are the 1978 GP ( I love those hard edged body lines ) followed closely by the 1980 Cutlass Calais ( again hard edged body lines and the egg-crate grill ). They were "the" domestic personal luxury car of their day.

I would rock the white 80 calais in this video !!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_B6xFbc_nY

I like the flares on the fenders and 1/4 panels of the 78-80 GP. I wish they had kept the flares on the later years.

The way I see 78-80 is like a Fine Wine it gets better with age the more I look the more I want haha

I think there is about 8 billion cutlass's and montes around here and almost all the Montes are SS (could it be that there were 10X more SS than base models or are there that many fakes floating around), followed up by regals and El Caminos and oddly I have seen quite a few Malibus, I have only seen maybe 3 GP's around and only 1 Lemans. Maybe Pontiac doesn't have that much of a presence in my neck of the woods.

I also agree that the 78-80's where a better breed. As stated they had better lines and each year had a uniqueness to them, the mid 80's G's all look about the same. Also the Grand Am is in my opinion the best looking of the G's.

This is my best guess (based on observation) for rarest to most common g bodies today...

Grand Am
Century
Lemans
Caballero
Bonneville
Grand Prix
El Camino
Malibu
Regal (Including GN & GNX)
Cutlass
Monte Carlo (I wonder how many SSs are fake?)

There is probably a way to research active registrations and come up with a much better answer. I would consider a Grand Prix uncommon but not rare. I would say only the first two are rare.

As for 78-80 vs others, I like them all. Same with 2 door vs 4 door vs Wagon vs Camino vs early Cutlass Salon & Century not-really hatchback body... If I could, I probably have one of each!
