Grand Prix rare?

Yeh I really like the butlass Cutlass fastback 442 from 79 how many of those where made I wonder.

When I first got into g-bodies 20 years ago, I couldn't stand the the 78-80 GP's and Regals. Now they're my favorites.

I see Montes, Regals and Cutlass all the time in Chicago. There's usually a handful of overpriced Malibus that you see craigslist too.

I never see 78-80 GP's, 78-80 Salons, GA's or Century coupes. The 81-87 GP's I see are usually beat to hell, same for El Caminos.

I would have thought that I would see lots of A(RWD)/G bodies around my way as I live in the MD/VA/DC area but not many are around. Most of the ones I see other then mine are at the junk yard and even those can be counted on one hand(I am still looking for a analog clock from a 1980-1983). In 2005 when I had my 1987 there were crap loads around in the JY and road.

At the junk yard about 3 weeks ago I saw a beat up Pontiac G Body Safari that had a perfect brown headliner with no flaws or sags.

I think the hardest to find and see is the Grand Prix 2+2 (you have a better chance at seeing a DeLorean DMC-12 pass you then one of those)

In my area a few years ago you would see the following the most:
1. Cutlass Supreme coupes(81-88)
2. Monte Carlo SS
3.Buick Regal Coupe and GN

I have never seen a 78-81 LeMans even though during that period some of the LeMans were made in nearby Baltimore(later the plant made Astro/Safari mini vans) but I have never seen one in person.

I have never seen a 82-86 Bonneville on the road here but that is not surprising at all because it did not sell really well as it was downsized from a fullsized car to the midsize one. Most folks that were buying Bonnevilles upto that point took a look at the 82-86 and defected to Chevy for the Caprice or Buick or Olds for the LeSabre or Delta 88 or 98. Pontiac realized their mistake and brough the Pontiac Parisenne in from Canada to fill the fullsized spot

I have seen Malibus but never any 4 doors(except for the 1980 my family had) and never stock. I only see those "pro street" coupes(what the hell is wrong with having a bone stock car as there ain't many left??)

I have seen the occasional Eico around and most have that unique cap for the bed on them. I have never seen the GMC version.

I have also not seen many regular Monte's except on CL(I tried to snag that 87 beater 4.3l FL Monte as a daily driver)

The hardest ones to find are the Regal sedans and wagons(I had a chance to buy a 1982 Regal sedan in 1997 and I sadly passed on it) and the Cutlass sedans

growing up our neighbors two doors down had a delorean. saw it every day. just saying.

Back when there were lots of g body cars around here, the most common were the Monte Carlos, and 81+ Cutlai. Now, I still see a boat load of Montes, throw a stick in any direction and you're bound to hit one, other than that, malibus are comming out of the woodwork  , as are 78-80 Cutlai.

Haven't see a grand am around here in quite a few years, there was three that I knew of at one point. The last butless cutlass I saw was in the jy a few years back, I know of one Century that looks pretty nice, (if it sits where it is too long, I might have to stop and try to buy it, lol). 78-80 GP's are pretty scarce now, as are Bonnevilles.

without a doubt grandams and lemans are the rarest gbody to find and to be seen..im thinking bout letting my malibu go to pick up a 78 lemans

I guess it all depends on where you live. Here in Portland, OR, The most common I see are Monte Carlo SS and El Camino, followed by Cutlass, Regal, Monte Carlo LS (or CL), then Malibu. I rarely see Grand Prix's. Probably why I chose to buy a GP over the other G-bodies.

yea bcuz here in the westcoast el caminos and monte carlos are the most common then malibus cutlass and regals gps and dont really see any of the other gbodys
