Kinda wondering how anyone here has mounted a firebird or H/O spoiler on their car? Looks to me like the mounting posts on mine (92 firebird) go right into the underside reinforcement.

Did the H/O ones have a slightly narrower mounting pedistal localtion? Or do I have to just cut a small area out from the underside reinforcement in order to get the nuts on.

Thanks.

I'd say you answered your own question right there. 😀

i've heard the mounts are shorter on the 'bird spoiler, you might have to space them up or something. this is just what i've heard though no experience 8)

You either have to space the mounts up or cut the wing tips down. I've seen the spoiler spaced up and it looks a bit goofy in my opinion.

As far as access, just cut some holes to get to the nuts on the backside.

I have a firebird spoiler. I drilled one set of holes through the lid and lip of the reinforcement and can still get the nut on no problem. I'll post pics tomorrow of where the holes are drilled to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

As for the H/O spoiler, I have no idea with that one. I only know about the firebird spoiler.

Please do , I have a 3rd gen Fbird spolier I'm about to install..

Good to know its acceptable to drill through the reinforcement.

Yeah I was planning on making a 1/2 inch spacer and putting in some inch longer studs.

Anybody have a picture of where it sits front to back? I had it set so the back of the side sits right above where the tail light meets the quarter extention.

I dont think it looks too goofy spacing it up a little.

Here are some pics. Excuse the spoiler as I just got done prepping it to get re-shot. My spoiler, in the mid section where it bows out, slightly overhangs the deck lid. At the bolt that goes through the reinforcement, I have 5-7 threads showing through the reinforcement. Now I have no idea if the cutlass or other g-body reinforcements are the same pattern as the malibus or not.

I didn't use any kind of sealer. I just used the factory gaskets between the deck lid and spoiler. Never had any kind of leaks from putting this spoiler on my car. Just drilled the right size holes and used stock black gaskets.
