Ok so I'm getting ready to put these heads on my block... noticed these valve stem tips. Scarred, pitted, I dont even know what to call it. It's on 4 of 5 valves. I know I can get caps but have never used them before. Suggestions?

I am assuming those rockers are loose?

The heads are off......replace them.

The rockers are just sitting there hanging out. I bought the heads last year and they have been sitting in my office. They were assembled and came off a running engine, minus the rockers. Aluminum patriot heads. Not really in a position to replace them.

I would have the damaged valves replaced and it sounds like the heads should be gone through anyways.
Lash caps are used to increase surface area for the roller to ride on and protect the valve stem but can not be used on damaged valves.
They are also typically .080 thick which means you should check your pushrod length when adding them and they require a valve lock that has a recess to hold them.

I'd replace the valves and then make sure you check the push rod length while you're there.
