I'm installing Hedman 68608 headers on my 305. What in terms of the emissions system will become obsolete? O2 sensor? MAP sensor? EGR valve? etc... I have already taken out the AIR system and my charcoal filter as well as some other emissions stuff don't work, but I haven't sorted through it all. Just interested to know what I'm looking at in terms of things not hooking back up. Not interested in debates on emissions and how well the car runs with versus without...

If you still have the CCC system, then you will need to weld a O2 sensor bung onto those headers and upgrade to a 3 wire heated O2 sensor. You can also get a clamp on stove heater for the Thermac aircleaner. You should have kept the Evap system / charcoal can as it prevents rust and sludge buildup in the gas tank.

Thanks for the reply. What I wrote was a little confusing upon re-reading it. I still do have the charcoal canister, I'm just under the impression that it's not functional right now. Would this just be a good time to get rid of the CCC?

If the CCC system is working good then why not put the O2 sensor back in.

If you don't want to weld on the headers you can also buy bolt on collectors that have O2 sensor bungs.

I ended up welding o2 bungs on the header collectors. Thanks for helping!

Something that might be a good idea with headers is the heated O2 conversion. Basically take a later 3 wire O2 sensor and add 12V with a ground. It helps bring on closed loop quicker, a good thing.

Heated O2 sensors also last longer and are less lazy for more accurate readings.
