ALL you guys with a 455 OLDS in a CUTLASS what type of heater box do you have? When I put my 455 in I took the non ac box out and put the ac one in because I was told the non ac one wouldn't fit with the 455.I would real like to put the non ac one back because my dash don't have any ac controls and the non ac one is alot smaller.Any help on this would be appreciated.

Send Blake442 a PM. I've seen his. He used a non A/C box but notched it a little bit. Can't remember if it was to clear extra tall valve covers............either way he should know.

I run a non a/c box on my 442 with a 455, and 88hurstolds had one too.

I had to modify mine slightly to clear the tall valve covers...

88hurstolds ran stock valve covers and didn't have to modify his...

The condition of your body mounts will play a role in the clearance as well.
Mine are original, and I probably wouldn't have had to modify my non a/c box as much if I had replaced them before hand.

455's drop right in, that's the beauty of Oldsmobiles
The only difference a 455 has from a 350 is an 1.2" in deck height which means you cant use a 350 intake... but you can use EVERYTHING else including the heads if you drill the bolt holes and dowel holes out. I used the 307 brackets and just added 1.2" of spacers where the bottom alt bracket bolts to the top of the PS bracket. If you are going to keep the A/C then you need to weld on a couple of extension tabs or use a little intuition with some scrap metal, hardware and a drill perhaps if you want to go the cheap route...
