That's the right routing. Might want to look into getting the vacuum operated shut off valve for the intake to heater core hose.

Looks like it “use to have a/c” if the vacuum line is gone, look for a manual control valve and turn it on when it gets cold or use the old manual choke cable system.

First make sure you get the right vacuum shut off valve. There's a version that opens with vacuum applied, and one that closes when vacuum is applied.

GM p/n 370178 is what you'd be seeking. Vacuum to close. Which is typical.

There's a Four Season's version here at Rock Auto. Probably with shipping, you'd see the same price as the ebay one.

There's also in-line types of heater cutoff valves that reside in the hose but were not available for your application from GM, but it would work. Takes up a little less room than the big banjo head style. Up to you. Again, make sure you know which version you're looking at. Your factory setup says close with vacuum.

Wouldnt he need the type with a barb on both ends ?

Yes, I already mentioned if he was going to do an "in-line" type of valve he could do that, but it wouldn't be "factory". Still need to make sure it's a vacuum applied to close.

The banjo style is the valve the GM parts book calls for when you have A/C and 305 in a 1980 Cutlass.
