I would make really sure the support is there. Maybe 8.2 Chevy rear, not so sure on a few year only rear.

The only real drawback of the BOP 8.2 rears is the availability of ratios. I think they only make 3.36, 3.55, 3.73, 3.90 and 4.11. And the fact that since they aren't chevy parts they cost twice as much.

. We could use the late great pontiacgp right now. He had that rear in his '85 GP.
Mark, My thoughts exactly. I remember him saying he was using the 8.2 rear in his GP. I believe he said it came out of an A-body.

Also all of the A-body rear ends are 2-4" wider depending on the year than a Gbody rear end which will require different rear rims to fit correctly.
Spring perches should be moved to the top of the axle also

I remember Steve saying he got some replacement upper A-arms that corrected the geometry. But I think the maker went out of business.

Axle shock mount angle is a bit off with this swap. A notch, tweak, and weld aligns the mount easily.

I think UMI made him something custom.

He did mention that the rear was wider, but he compensated by using rims with a wider backspace...besides using the aftermarket upper control arms.
