IMO if you want a wimpy underpowered engine you should look for a Pontiac 301 and it would be a direct swap.
That way when you get tired of being passed by old ladies you can get your 400 rebuilt and reinstall it with no issues.

A worn out cutlass 307 probably packs 1/3 the power and torque of the 400 done right.

If you insist on doing it, find the equivalent generation and body style of the Catalina that originally came with a SBO and take those mounts. Then save your originals for when you want to go back.

If you got rid of or destroyed the 400 somehow, find a 455. All poncho v8s were externally the same do get the cubes for that heavy lady

As someone who has ran a 307 and a 301in a Buick lesabre, I recommend against it
Way underpowered and there is no cool factor in holding up traffic or being afraid to pull onto a busy street in a lazy heap
Just my opinion, it’s free and it’s worth it 🙂

I'll buy that 400 from you.

You need different motor mounts. Look at delta 88 for a donor. I'll also buy the Catalina from you because it deserves better than a 307 olds. PM me

I like the 307 but why would you do this? You need 73 through 90 frame mounts and the same for replacement mounts. A lot of work for 140 or 150 hp and 245 or 255 tq.
