HELP,SHIFTER INSTALL

hello guys and girls. need some input on installing the brackets for my floor shifter,i have a print of where the brackets go but, when i tac them in place and set my consel over the shifter bracket there is a 1-1/4 gap in the front of my consel. it doesn't seem like i should have that big of a gap there. POR-15 the floor next thursday and need to get this figured out. i have pics of the brackets and consel in place PLEASE help if you can thanks again.

Don't forget, placing the CONSOLE on the tunnel with no carpet is going to make the CONSOLE fit funky. Keep that in mind.
The CONSOLE is cut and trimmed to fit in conjunction with the carpet.

If you still have your old carpet, you can try test fitting it with the shifter and console. I'm sure it will make a difference.
It's worth a shot.

You'll end up having to cut into your new carpet in order to accommodate your shifter and console mounts. If your old carpet is shabby and will be thrown out anyway, use it for test fit purposes.
Get your mounts tacked in first...but not permanently yet until you're sure that everything is in it's proper position.
These are just my thoughts. I'll also be going thru the same procedure to weld in the console and shifter mounts.
