Hello,
I am having a rear end made for my 84 SS. I can have it made in any width. If my rims [ which I will be getting] have a 5.74 back spacing, what should I
have my width set up as? I figure if a can get my rear end made to fit, then I would not have to have custom back spacing wheels made.

I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the help !!!!!

Wheel width matters, too, because the tire rubs, not the wheel. A 275 wide tire has a different ideal BS for 7", 8", 9" and 10" wheels.

You also need to include all related specifics to get good guesses (I say guess because that's what it is w/o physically validating the exact car/set-up).

Frame modified?
Any wheel well mods?
What will the front set-up be?

All these points reflect on choosing the rear wheel set-up when doing a build. Knowing as much as possible gets you the best info possible.
