Hi guys. Just took the wagon out for a drive last night. It's done this every now and then, but seems to be a intermittent issue. It seems to happen when I'm at about 3/4 throttle. Not "floored" but more than light/half throttle. The car will be going, and suddenly stumble, and make a muted "pop" sound. It will then kind of "clear its throat" and keep driving along. Anyone else had this issue, and what's the possible fix? Thanks in advance.

Quadrajet? If so tighten the secondary air valve spring about 1/16 turn. Sounds like it is right on the verge of being lean at that point.

It’s the 2-bbl CCC. My buddy who has an old Snap-On OBD-I scanner did say it seemed like it was running a tad on the lean side.

2 things to test,
lean mixture or restricted exhaust pressure from plugged cat or muffler

It's lean. More jet or smaller rods. My 1978 Olds that we have had since new did this, dealer couldn't fix. I went up one size on the main jets and the problem went away. Never had to pass an emission test in Michigan.
