Hi guys, new build and new holley 750hp full mechanical.

4000 custom stall, I'm getting a slight hestitation at track when I floor it off idle, before it lock up at 4000.

81 Malibu gutted 350sbc tiny cam and only 9.5to1 th350 4000stall 4.56 28tire

11.89 112mph 1.66 60foot.

Stall is getting modified now from 4000 to 5000. New coil overs up front.

I had 28 and 31 pump nozzles. I went 31 and 36, feels slightly better.

Even though I'm small power, I'm thinking of buying kit and trying much bigger nozzles, bit by bit, and a 50cc rear accelerator pump.

Do you guys agree?

I think that's what i need to do and I'll be 5000 stall.

Iron eagle heads 215cc runners. Small cam. Too much flow, mis-matched set up for sure.

I'm not trying to get every .001 out of it, but it ccantthestate.

Thanks!!!
Myles

With a small/mild cam 750 may be too much. Besides the jets & bumping to a 50cc rear pump what else have you done to it. Fine tuning a Holley to a mix-match set up can lead to having to change other parts too (metering blocks, power valves). Before I forget what model & is this a new or rebuilt Holley.

Thanks guys,

It loves to rev and makes its power up high so I really love the idea of the 5000. Too late to go back! Haha

Its 355 dish piston
Dart iron eagle 215cc runners.
The Holley is new yes, 750cfm HP series, the jetting is good and plugs look great.
Tight lash solid cam not roller

Lash is 18 and 22

106/106

750 might be a little big but I'm stuck with it for now. It's just a slight hesitation.

Similar problem in other sbc Malibu set up, solved problem by tighting rear flaps on back of quadrajet. But I'm staying with the Holley.

I love the car and dont wanna change more parts I'm hoping i can solve problem with more fuel off the line..

Lock out your timing. A footbrake car works best with all the timing in right away for maximum torque off the pedal. It also allows you to close the throttle blades down at idle and run the car off the timing advance. I would also ensure the carb has jet extensions, I believe all hps do and tie the vent tubes together with a hose with a notch at the top to prevent spillover.

What is your compression with the dish pistons?

355 w/ no compression 215 runners, probably single plane intake and a possible carb spacer = low runner velocity / poor carb signal. As I mentioned earlier wide band tuning is spot on. If you lock out your timing you will need start retard.
