With the electric fans both operating, I am likely pulling upwards of 80A. I need a new alternator that is like 140-160A. The stock one cannot keep up at idle. Any good suggestions for the silver car with the 455 BBO?
What are others using?

I wish you luck, as I have found out after going through a few name brand hi amp alternators over the years in my Monte that the idle amperage is lacking in most of these, I ended up getting a DC Power 180 amp that puts out 130+ at idle that solved my issues and comes with an actual dyno sheet but not cheap by comparison.
The peace of mind watching my voltage gauge stay at 14 volts with my accessories on at idle made it worth every penny though

I bought this:
Should be here by Tuesday. Hopefully, this takes care of the shortfall in current...
I don't get why they use the 10 SI casing for high amperage aftermarket alternators. GM designed the 12 SI for a reason, a bigger fan and a more open back let out more heat created by the 94 amps some put out. The last Wilson 12SI reman 94 amp was a POS. There was a CS130 option on 88 and up Olds V8's. I had a GM Mexican reman, also lasted 2 years. This one has a good customer rating, which is a start. The only high amperage 10SI alternator that lasted much past a couple of years for me probably put out more like 80 amps. They just aren't designed to take extra heat made by the higher amperage created. My 110 amp 10 SI, I believe it was, got ridiculously hot and last 2 years. Being plain vs my chrome case may also help it cool better. I would also add a 4 gauge looped battery cable to the alternator battery terminal. I wish you luck.

+1 on the CS130. If you can get one to fit, even a CS144 would be a good option. One of those can get up to 180-200 amps.

Edit: Also +1 on the upgraded power lead.

I looked up the stock Caddy with 307 and they all look like 12si cases. I could be wrong though.

Has anyone done an upgraded CS130 or CS144 in a Cutlass that could post pics?

Put in for a 1990 Cutlass Cruiser on Rock Auto. A bunch of 105 amp version come up. I had one on my 88 Cutlass, other than wiring, fit right in place of 10 SI it replaced. It charged great for 2 years then died. They got me a POS 12SI, since they no longer carried the Champion, Mexican AC Delco. A Wilson reman replace it under warranty, what a pile it was, they used be good. I currently have all new parts Remy gold serpentine CS130 105 amp on the 70S, no issues with the Dodge Stratus cooling fans, draw plenty of amps, blew multiple 40 amp relays, 3+ years, so far, so good. I see they changed the warranty from lifetime to 2 years, since I bought mine.

Here's a nice CS144 case one

Here is a CS130 case one that seems like it would work

What mods are necessary for a CS144 case style? Is the pivot to clamp bolt distance different?
