High idle or just crazy?

Hey guys im back, some guy came to look at my regal and said its only worth 1500 because it has a high idle and the exhaust manifolds are smoking (i told him ive never let it run for more than 5 minutes but he didnt believe me) i wanted your guys opinion if you think this is a high idle, if so how can i fix it?

yea the guy was a dick about it to, i told him it hasnt ran on the road since 93 and he expects it to be perfect.

as far as fixing the high idle you need to let it get up to operating temperature to see if the high idle doesn't come down. I would spray a lubricant on the carb and the linkages if the high idle won't kick off

Was engine cold and choke fast idle on? Looks like a nice car. Should be worth more than that. Valve covers might be leaking to account for smoke. Might have heard an exhaust leak and an alternator whine. High idle is not a big deal. Mist out of tail pipe may be condensation

What a clean car! Agree with all of the above- don't sell it short. '78 is probably a hot air choke so even if that is working properly it does need to get good and hot before it kicks all the way down.

yea the guy was looking at it for like 5 minutes while it ran, i think that is why it has a high idle.
