Looking to eventually upgrade the exhaust system on my '80 Malibu. Checking the Holley website, and I see that their 3" stainless exhaust kit is on sale now. Down to $658.76 from $813.95. Does anyone here have any experience with this system? How was the installation and fit? How does it sound? Looking for opinions. Thanks in advance.

Have a shop do it for less than that.

What engine do you have that calls for 3"

I understand that a 3" system isn't the best for bottom end power. I have a custom exhaust system on the car now. The equipment that muffler shops use to bend tubing for a custom system will squish the tubing in the bends, which restricts flow. I'm upgrading to a 350 crate engine, and I want a mandrel bent system for the car. Also, the fact that the Holley system is stainless is attractive to me as well.
I'm hoping to get some opinions from people who have experience with this system, as far as sound and fitment are concerned.

I run Hooker aero chamber mufflers I love them.

But still 3 inch is way to big.

It's not a booty where bigger is better!!

Put cats and chambered mufflers on there... it'll sound better and flow more like a 2.5" system.
