So let’s pretend this is a gbody question but I picked up this Holley street avenger 80570 and it did come off a running vehicle but had a leak. I ended up taking a look inside and I’m just wonderingj if you guys have any idea what would cause corrosion like this? It only seems to be on the bowls and not affecting the rest of the carb. Any thoughts?

Doesn’t the Street Avenger have the polished coating on it? Looks like the coating is lifting.

Pffft. Send it. The alcohol will kill the germs. :)

Seriously, that's some fugged up sh*t right there. I've had a little bit of corrosion stuff that's gotten past filters from the tank before in Holleys I've had, but that is REDONKULOUS.

you've got quite the nice paperweight there. who knows how many little chunks of that coating is where they shouldn't be.

The leak was around the accelerator pump, a little drip drip. I pulled that off and saw one little bubble. Then I open it up and inside the whole thing is flaking apart.

Doing some research I found that Holley actually had lots of issues with their plating process and that zinc when in contact with water will degrade. Sadly for me it’s a used carb off a different vehicle I bought so I think any warranty claim is going to be long gone but I may give it a shot. A least try and get some new bowls Idk. I’ll send them an email.

The whole thing was pretty shocking! I’ve worked on lots of carbs but never seen anything like that!
