Will be installing a glass hood this year.
It will be a bolt on, not pin on.
My plan was to use light weight springs, but then I wondered if there are light weight support brackets that bolt to the hood/fender. Aluminum instead of the stock steel units??

Anything out there??

Aluminum Hood Cars used aluminum Brackets and llightweight springs . Probably pretty rare as they are easily torn up in the junkyard.

can't speak for the pontiac cars, but 78-80 cutlass aluminum hoods used the same hinges and supports as the steel hoods. these hinges and supports are made of steel. the flat wire springs were just a hair thinner with a lower spring rate for the lighter hood.

Or you can modify stock hinges and use struts instead. They can be had in plenty of pressure ratings. I have a bolt on glass hood, and here is my setup on my Cutlass. I'm using modified regal hinges and custom struts. Results may vary.
