I have one horn that is shorting out causing the other one to just let out a little burp. I have it unplugged for now so the other horn will work. Is there any way to fix the defective horn or is it junk. I'd hate to junk it and have someone say there was an easy fix....

I drove my 79 Malibu in a buddys wedding many years ago. Blowing the horn so much caused both of them to eventually just emit meager sounds. I think I overheated them.
After that they never worked again, just gave a quiet little sound.

Junkyard parts made that an easy fix. 😀

I was planning on hitting my local yard but I just hate it when after I buy something someone tells me it would have been an easy fix... 😳

Steve,
You could try adjusting the one horn?...although, I also have one horn that's not emitting squat and I can't get anything to fit the adjusting screw. It's like a torx head. I personally think the horn is toast.

I'm going to be installing a set of Fiamm air horns in my wagon. They came with my old 914. No more whimpy sounding horns.

It's funny that you mentioned it. I was even considering one...

Paul,
You were a bad kid... I would've done the same... 😀

all I asked if there was a simple repair and you guys suggests horns that can be heard 2 counties away....

well as men we don't really grow up, we just get older. 😀 if the horn is like a stock one you CAN pry it open, and inside is a metal disk and its secured in the center by a nut. maybe the nut got loose and its not working anymore. the problem is that once ya pry it open youll have to jb-weld it back on.
