I've seen the whole thing. There's a 2nd part coming. Basically they take a 4 door V6 (california) grannymobile and go to town with many thousands of dollars in parts over the course of 20 minutes. LS swap with an old engine masters show motor, holley EFI. Oh and lets put a $10K manual transmission in there because its just laying around or some garbage. They just hack out the heater/ac box and bolt a crap plate in there instead of you know actually doing the right thing. I mean whats a few more thousand or two?

In the next episode they'll casually throw a custom 9" and QA1 suspension under there because.

To be fair they did try to break the 7.5 and mysteriously failed. Didn't try long enough.

I enjoy seeing most of their stuff, but its starting to get a little rich, in more ways than one. "Just run down to the store and pick up a gear vendor overdrive with your beer money yo!"

Having worked for TEN, I know how the game is played, and I love their idea of "budget" when most of the parts are comped. You can make just about anything fast if you throw $25k of fully sponsored parts at it.

Yeah, everything is a budget build when your sponsors pay for everything. When Motor Trend calls a car a "budget build", it just means "we aren't painting it".

I don't think you can put a manual transmission in a G-body or any car and still call it a "sleeper", unless it is expected to be a manual car, like a crapbox. The whole concept of a sleeper is you can stomp on it at a light and beat the guy in the Lambo showing off next to you. That pretty much requires an automatic transmission in a G-body.

Slipping clutches, hopping axles and spinning tires aren't exactly the stuff of an "ultimate" sleeper.

Yeah its kind of hard to believe ANY of the internet/magazine sponsored articles. Are they really going to risk NOT getting free parts by telling you that the parts didn't work? Even intake manifold tests have been changed to be all intakes of 1 vendor so that more than anything, they are just saying we found the right design, by Vendor X for THIS engine combination. What may work on yours depends on your setup. But getting back to all the hype of a sleeper, come on. Just because G-body cars are FINALLY being recognized because there are no more old cars left to build affordably, doesn't mean that this stuff hasn't been done. When I had my first ones back in 1988, I raced a guy at the track that had a 4 door 81 Malibu with white wall tires and 14" rally wheels with a 1970 LT-1 350 in it. The car looked horrible and could turn high 13's back then compared to 5.0 mustangs that were stuck in the 14's. My dad's friend had a 406 in a Malibu wagon that was street driven and ran 11.90's then too. That was when there were NO parts available for them. My dad had a 406 Malibu in 1988 and back then the only way to do it was use the metric starter, with the 153 tooth flexplate. But to do that, we added a weight to the flexplate to use the small diameter on the 400.

I've lost my want for magazines and videos of "insert catchy name here" builds or auto TV shows(I did just watch Fastest Car on Netflix). That is part of why I'm on Gbody, low buck, hard work, honest projects. Lately I have been spending a lot of time on H.A.M.B. reading amazing builds with tons of detailed work.

I've been watching "FASTEST CAR" on Netflix and I want to kill myself from the brain pain. Poorly driven and poorly built shitbox "sleeper cars" piloted by drama queens vs. exotics driven by douchbag attention wh*res.

Truthfully the deviation between the two classifications of asshats isn't that distant. I honestly hope that this isn't an accurate representation of everyday America - because if so... ya'll are doomed.
