That is tough, that could possibly clear with out notching. But for notching you want to notch the frame back until it is even with the inner wheel wells. Going deeper won't help because the inner wheel well is in the way. We the UMI kit we run a 11" wheel and 315 tire on a 79.
Sorry, I meant 295/55/15. Should be 0.8” wider section width than the 275’s I have now.I would notch the frame so it is flush with the inner wheel tub and from there I would do some mock ups to see what you can actually fit before ordering rims.
With a 2" drop on a 15 x 10 with the right backspace might fit but I feel a smaller tire would be needed to provide enough clearance.
I am not sure who's tire you are looking at in a 315/55R15 but it will have approx 13" of section width and that will be the issue.
That helps a lot. I meant to say I will be running 295/55/15 m/t drs. Running the 275’s now. It sounds like your car sits like mine.I wouldn’t notch past the inner tub unless you are going to widen the wheel tubs. My notch is to the edge of the spring bucket with tubs widened 2.5”. 15x10 welds 5.5bs with 295 55 15 MT dr’s, 2” UMI rear drop springs and modified fender lips. Car sits just on top the tire. Notch is wide enough to fit 325 50 15 dr’s on same rim with 3/4” clearance to frame. Not sure the 325 will tuck in fenders with the 5.5 bs. This is on a Cutlass, hope this helps out.
Your 275/60's on your 8" rims should have a section width of 11.1" the 295/55 should be at 12.1 on a 10" rims but should still have no problem fitting .Sorry, I meant 295/55/15. Should be 0.8” wider section width than the 275’s I have now.
