BruceCompton,
Yes, G.M. did make 305/4spd. in 78! I did a web search ( 78cutlass supreme 305 4speed car ), and I think you'll find it very interesting! It just might be 1 of 99 built!

Doug

Doug, Can you tell me where to see how many of a certain car were built and what was built? Bruce

Nope, unless it has 442 badges on the upper door panels, quarter panels and trunk lid, two tone white/gold or black/gold and have w-30 on the lower front fender you have a regular Cutlass Calais.

There were 409 260 Olds 5-speeds built in 1979 according to an article in Hemmings back in 2002. The previous owner of my 83 Hurst has an extremely nice one for sale right now, Silver with a Carmine interior. I saw it in person and it's freakin sweet!
It's on eBay right now.

i always thought they neever made any g bodies standard only auto, well now i feel silly lol but i hope if it is that n its rare that the moon roof they put in didnt take away the value

Your right, no G-body was ever made with a manual. However the '78-'81 A-body's were. 😉

And remember, just because it may be rare doesn't neccessarily make it valuable. Sometimes rare means ugly pieces of junk no one wanted. AKA the butless Cutlass.
Andrew, you hurt my feelings 🙁

I just came back to this post and am kind of amazed at the responce and am very interested in all the comments.

The last reply by 78 salon makes me chuckel because I have a 78 442 Salon that is a Pro bracket car. Many times I have been told how ugly my Hot Rod is and I just ask folks if they would like to race. Not the fastest sometimes but we get the job done alot.

That was always my response to the "rare bench seat" in the Monte Carlo SS when the owners tried to make it a selling point.
