Is there a way to check whether an upgraded cam with longer lift or higher lift is in my 305?
( without tearing the engine apart ) I was told it did have a upgraded camshaft and does run a wee bit rougher than it should . Thx

You could check lift at the pushrod but that only tells you one facet and is more effort than it’s worth. Especially since you barely notice that it isn’t stock.

If you end up digging into the engine, I have sometimes seen engraving marks on the end of the cam behind the timing gear. Not helpful now, I know.

If it’s not radical enough to be undriveable or obnoxious then it is close enough to stock to not be worth digging into. At most it’s probably in the neighborhood of a 0.450” and 214 degree. Any more in a stock 305 likely decreases performance.

In my opinion don’t let your curiosity cost you money in this case. Not trying to be a jerk in any way.
