Here ya go, proof it can be done

Jeezus..... Nobody said it CAN'T be done. It said shouldn't. AGAIN, you linked the reference source for the info.

The 8.5:1 is also a common guideline to follow if you don't have the ability to dial in a combo (those of us that are average Joe's & not familiar enough w/all the ins/out of various combos) that might be pushing possible boundaries & w/o an ECU helping keep things in check. It's not an absolute. It's a recommendation for the general publics success.

The guys in that video back what I'm saying. They acknowledge pushing the dynamic compression ratio of that combo (mentioned @ 9.2) but said their experience w/previous combos suggested it should work. They also stated the importance of the parts selection, the importance of the tune-up, importance of cam timing, & they're utilizing a blue-printed combo w/a computer controlled EFI set-up.

Stock 1996 LT1 had 11.0-1 compression..
10.4:1 Compression from all the stuff I've ever read on them. My first car was 1995 Camaro Z28, got quite a bit of experience with that Engine.

I thought smaller cam bleeds off low speed compression, it had a Crower 00351 solid flat tappet camshaft in it.
No, why I asked did you read what we all were talking about on that page.

If it was my engine, just changing the pistons to flat tops(hypereutetic) w/4valve reliefs would be the cheapest route... changing to larger chamber heads and/or radical camshaft, more money spent for a daily driver, especially with the more radical cam to bleed off cylinder pressure down low, driveability and gas milage wouldnt exactly roxors your boxors.

Seeing what you have and what you want. Trying to reverse build an engine. Good luck

Not reverse building engine running it as is!!!!
Hopefully on some hi-test gas or E85 to protect the investment. The math says the combo is way over the margin of error limits for regular pump gas 'as-is'.
