I'm under the impression that 275s will fit alright having very little sidewall on an 18 inch rim. I nearly bought a set of 17 inch rears with 275s and the owner said they fit fine. They had a 4.5" backspace I believe.

Did you find out anything on tire size. That's how I found this forum. I was trying to find the fattest tires I could run. I would notch mine but I don't know how to weld. I found a car on turbobuick.com that has the stance I m looking for. He's post says he's running 285 40 17. the only mod was rolling the fender lip I'll try to find pic

17 x 9.5 4.75 back spacing on rear
17 x 7 4 inch back spacing
285 40 17 rear
235 40 17 front (I'd like to go wider in the front)

You can't really compare a Buick to a Cutlass because the wheel wells are slightly different. The Buick will generally let you run a wider wheel/tire than the Cutlass.

Easiest way to find out what will fit is to measure the wheel well on your car and go from there.

That's the plan. I am finally buying a place with a garage. So I can really go overboard now. I relly like the 315 s you have under yours. When I get moved in I am going to scatter it apart. I ll get the stance i want 1way or another. I got the driveline wher I want it. So I want to get the suspension dialed in. Can you get255 s under the front(with or without) inner femders
