I started to fab the 4 speed shifter body into a Cutlass console and it just didn't work out nice. So I took a 79 3sp Dual Gate and merged the to together.Has anyone installed the Dual Gate 2 (4 speed) in a g-body cutlass? If so, have you had any issues with install (bolt-up, fitment of top cover plate, etc.)?
Thanks,

A good vinal graphics place should be able to match pretty close. Just lay over wood grain or pull up and lay over the black absBiggest issue with the 87 442 is mimicking the Sheffield gray surround instead of the woodgrain.
Or you could go this routeI will check with him when I get a chance. That looks really good in there. Only problem I see is, as you said, mimicking the Sheffield gray. I don't want to cut up the original top plate, so I would have to come up with something like another modified plate, and have an overlay made for it. Definitely worth looking into!
Oh yeah, that one looks more "80's factory" installed than the 79 Hurst top plate. Although not opposed to that either. Would likely need to install a tach indicator for which gear you're in since there's no backlight, but 83/84 H/O did that already, so no big deal.Or you could go this route
