Hurst Shifter to 4L60E Trans Cable

I’m trying to install a Lightning Rod Shifter to a 4L60E transmission. It seems the cable, originally for a 200r4 may be too long. Could the cable be stretched or do I need to find a shorter cable. Anybody else have any issue? This is for an 85 442. Thanks-
