I have recently bought a monte carlo off my father, and am told that my body is good. though I have kind of bad rear frame rails. I was wondering what year of G Body frame mount pattern would fit into my car?
MAINLY because I was looking at some G body frames but don't know if they would be the right one, my frame is still intacted to the car and is holding well but am wanting change it in 3 or 4 years from now.
( DONT HAVE PICTURES )

It's a 1985 Monte Carlo CUSTOM Luxury edition. frame is factory base frame.

If 'money carlo' can be swapped for 'honey carlo', then we might be interested in a photo or two of your 'good' body

Whoaa, whoaa, whoaa, that wasn't funny.

All frames interchange except El Camino type vehicles. 2 door, 4 door and wagon frames are the same for all 78-88 G-bodies. There are a couple of extremely minor differences that will not affect a swap.

I'm gonna be THAT guy and jump in here

2 door and 4 door frames have the same body mount locations. There are 2 different front rail lengths, which could cause bumper mounting issues

Wagons have different rearmost mount locations, which COULD be modified to fit a coupe or sedan if that's all a guy could find.

El Camino and Caballero are longer wheelbase, so they're out.

Added note to what Ribbedroof, the frames do have different frame horns based on model for bumper mounting. Here's a posting about frames I posted earlier this year.
Here's an older posting of mine on frame p/n interchange. Not 100% complete but enough info to show what can interchange
This is what I found usimg my Chevy parts books.
Monte Carlo frame p/n: '78 470211, '79 14017671 (must use engine mount 14005699 on '78 models) (used on '78-'81 Buick 09, 69, 87), '80-'81 14013462 (superseded '78 & '79 p/n's) (used on '81 Regal), '82-'88 14103516 (use on '83 Olds W40 Hurst/Olds, '78-87 Pontiac except 35.)
Malibu (19, 27, 69) p/n: '78 461808, '79 14005602 (same note as Monte Carlo), '80 14017667 (must use '80 front park brake cable on earlier models, superseded '79 p/n) (Used on Buick 09, 69, 87), '81 14032514 (superseded '78-'80 p/n's.)
Note body codes:
2 door body: 27, 37, 47, 87
4 door body: 09, 19, 69
station wagon: 35
Looks like the Monte frame would be the one to work on a LeMans. Keep in mind that this is incomplete as I have not cross checked all GM catalogs for our cars.

Do you agree that these are all very easy mods to make them work?

Bumper mounting issues can be overcome quite easily IMO. I have 6 or 7 sets of bumper mounts 'in the shed'.

And I agree with you, I was just saying, if a good frame is found, don't rule it out because it's for something different other than an El Camino.

I do agree that the changes are minor and easily overcome by those with the will and means. Just wanted to clarify for those who can't/won't deal with the differences.

It has been previously pointed out to me that not explaining every minute difference is a big deal:roll:
