I have a very important question about Cutlass

Fill the car completely up and write the milage down. Run the tank as close to empty and then fill it back up. Look at miles and figure out how many miles you went on the tank and how many gallons it took to fill it up. Divide gallons used into Miles driven and you will have a pretty close MPG estimate. You can do that a couple times and get a good average also. I would bet mixed city/highway driving you are getting 15 or so... just a guess though.

to find out your mpg just fill up your tank fully and record the millage on the car and then drive it till wenever and fill it all the way up again and record the millage then count up the miles you drove and the gallons of gas it took to fill the car. for example if you have 1000 miles on the odometer and you fill your tank and drive till its 1100 you drove 100 miles and you fill your tank and it takes 10 gallons then you get 10 mpg

Thank you for this, where going to go out tomorrow and see what we get, were going to Lorain Ohio and its 6 hours away and were not rich or have a lot of money and we don't want to waste a lot of money on this trip that we don't have you know.

But our 85 Buick Riviera got at least 17 to 20 mpg and that was a 307 v8.

well, if its anything like my old 3.8L v-6, youd be lucky to get 20mpg on the highway cause that motor has to work so hard to move that amount of weight unless you live in Kansas....lol... and the computer carb just didnt last as long as the car did....lol. I bet my olds 350 will get the same mpg cause it wont have to work nearly as hard to get the car down the road. Just my 2cents...

Like those above said, the mileage will be similar to the V-8s. My '79 Monte Carlo with a 3.8 v-6 and a 3 speed auto actually got almost 16mpg during the time I owned it but my 307 V-8 with the 4 speed automatic has thus far averaged 17.8mpg for the 3000 miles I have put on it thus far.

So, if you are getting less than 15mpg highway, you may want to inspect it all to make sure it is running well. Just follow the directions above to find out YOUR mpg.
