Jorge, my comment was slightly sarcastic. If you put your SS on the market, it wouldn't price as high as a GN, is all I was saying. No need to get your panties in a wad.

If it was an 84 Monte SS, that would merit more $$ because of how small the number was for that particular version in 1984

Just because it's low production number doesn't necessarily mean more $$. It's all about supply and demand, which production effects supply, but it has to be wanted. I thought my
84 Mustang GT turbo convertible w/ only 731 made and 1 of 1 on color (how rare can you get) would be worth some good $$. It was in the family its entire life and mint. It was a hard sell which I got $6000.00 for, less than I though it would bring. Yea I know it's a ford !!

1984 Total Model Production Numbers

LX 5.0/GT Convertible (P27M): 7,643
LX 5.0 Sedan (P26M): 1,395 (448 of them Special Service)
LX 5.0/GT Hatchback (P28M): 29,142
GT Turbo Convertible (P27W): 731
GT Turbo Hatchback (P28W): 3,241
SVO Hatchback (P28T): 4,507

1984 Color Production Numbers

35 Light Academy Blue

LX 5.0/GT Convertible (P27M): 276
LX 5.0 Sedan (P26M): 64
LX 5.0/GT Hatchback (P28M): 102
GT Turbo Convertible (P27W): 1
GT Turbo Hatchback (P28W): N/A
SVO Hatchback (P28T): N/A

Correct. Nothing about production numbers means you'll get asking price. But if the car is very desirable, whatever it is about that year/model that makes it that way, you gain far more with a nice example, low production run vehicle as compared to the comparable bread and butter version. Almost ALWAYS (almost because there's always that outlier moron that pays way too much for something).

You didn't find the right buyer or didn't market it in the right venue at the right time. You know those that buy fords ain't right in the head to begin with! :) I'm thinking if you had shopped it differently you may have had better luck.

Point of all this is if your Mustang was a 6 cyl everyday roundabout car, would it even have gotten the price you did sell the GT for?

Rhetorically, this is why you roll the dice about car "investing". It's like panning for gold. You got to be at the right place and at the right time to get a pan full of shiny nuggets. Most of the time, you're going to be disappointed. But you have to go into buying cars with "NO RAGRETS" and if you have expectations of not making money, your financial well-being will be fine. My expectations are low. I look at all my vehicles as money suckers.
