if you think it will stop @ 13.99, think again!

Oh h3ll no! I've been bored with my weenie engine now for a while. I'm just looking to reach a realistic goal with what I currently have, but I would like to do so on a consistant basis without having to rely on perfect weather conditions, running on fumes, taking out the spare etc. I think if I could squeez a few more ponies out of the old slug and install some LCA relocation brackets for traction, I should be able to do it. I'm just hoping there's some more power to be found.

With a 96mph you're capable of a 13.80 in the 1/4 if you dial in the first part of the race.

Right move with concentrating on your suspension and traction.

For ponies, those olds seem to like as much timing as you are brave enough to throw at them. Get some 91 or 94 octane, maybe a can of booster and experiment with the timing. You will notice the more you advance it, the quicker it will fall off in the higher RPM's, but you will have a buttload of torque, so shift accordingly to stay in the power band. I've seen them like as much as 38*.

Advanced timing = shift sooner
retarded timing = shift later

Trial and error to find where exactly you want the timing and shift points.

You're on your own for the carb. I love Qjets, but I cant tune them for ET.

These times were all from launching a bit off idle ( about 1500 rpm's I think ), auto shifting ( shifts under 5k ),

Try shifting about 5500rpm, even a stock cam can handle that, that will get you a higher starting rpm after each shift, keep that heavy car moving.
