So something that's been bugging me for years now, is the sway bar on the GP. (I finally remembered to get a pic) I'm not sure it belongs to a G-Body, but I don't know what else it would be from that it would fit between the control arms and mount up etc. Here's a pic. Notice how it just goes straight across right up against the cover, where the other rear bars I've seen have a curve that goes around the cover. This bar has been on the car literally for decades and I don't know where Dad got it. *shrug*. It's possible he said it came from whatever car the rear end is from, but like I said, decades. I can get more pix of the mounting locations etc. if needed. Yeah I thought that pic was better, I'll add some more if I can get behind the car to do it now that its tucked in the corner

I'm sure I've read on here...somewhere... that the straight bar was on the 78 model year?

I'll have to try a search...

That would probably explain it. Guess I missed that thread last year, or just forgot  Thanks!

I have a straight rear bar on my Bonneville. A lot of the 78-80 Monte Carlos came with the straight rear bar and most of those are 3/4" or 5/8".
The one I am using is a 7/8". Trying to keep the sleeper image,I figure the straight bar is harder to see.

If its true, I don't know but my 78 had a straight bar in it when I got it. Mine did have the rear end replaced with a 3.42 posi 7.5 out of a W30 cutlass from what I was told when I got it.

This is the bar on my Bonneville. I probably have 3 or 4 of the 3/4” straight bars in my shed. I’ve sold quite a few of the typical 7/8” F41 bars but no one has ever asked for one of the straight ones.

I got one on my '81 Monte that I got off a Hurst/Olds (can't remember if it was a '78 or '79) in a junk yard back in the mid '90's & its close to an 1" dia. I've only seen them on Olds. My '79 Monte I had back in the early '90's had the round center type.

My 1979 Hurst has the bar with the dip in the center. I have 2 straight bars, a 3/4in and a 7/8in, that were pulled from a 1978 442 and a 1979 Calais.

It would be nice to jack up my car without the sway bar being right under the diff.
