I ran a "gov bomb" in my '81 wagon behind a Pontiac 400. It lasted 10 years and now it is in my '83 Bonnewagon. But I have 3:23 gears on it so that takes the strain off the rear. Whenever I hear of a 7.5 breaking it is usually the same issues: crummy dead gears, slicks, and/or brutal abuse.

the 7.5/7.625 Torsen is a T2 which is not really a posi. The T2R had disks to preload it but that edition were bigger carriers. With the 28 spline axles it will be a much stronger rear end than the stock 7.5.
Which s where we're at.
Face it, 2.14 rear gears suck.
To get into a better carrier to support better gears is the end game.
The 260 in it now is not going to hurt this unit....
Could I spend more? Sure.
I love to spend my kids money, but the well is not that deep.
GM part # is :12471371 showing '99-02 Camaro and Friedbird.
Just waiting on measurement for series ID.
