I have a 7.5 10 bolt with a 373 posi. The ring gears have some numbers on them that I assume will tell me more about the gear set. Does anyone recognize P164/BL008 and P164/CD2-313. Also 5124/C251. IMG_20200321_213253.jpg IMG_20200321_213227.jpg IMG_20200321_213124.jpg

Back Lash 0.008"
pinion Check Distance 2.313"

The hand written numbers mean EVERYTHING. Unless you don't do your own work.

Those are aftermarket gears BTW. Stockers typically have no hand written instructions.

And the P164 on the both the ring and the pinion show that they are a matched Pair. In the absence of the unnecessary 11:41 stamped on the set you can count each and do the math.

The 'CD 2.313' is the checking depth for determining your pinion shim.
BL.008 was the backlash the gear set was lapped in at.
I've used both when setting up gear sets and the pattern almost always falls into spec.
