Even though I have a derpy 7.5 with 2.41s, peg leg burnouts are mighty embarrassing, and kind of funny, I've been thinking of dropping in a limited slip carrier. I've eyeballed this one here from summit, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aub-542058/overview/year/1985/make/buick/model/regal. It fits the rears with 3.08 and lower gears, and is 26 spline. Would it be as simple as taking the old center section out, putting the ring gears and what not on the LSD and putting it back in? Along with the additive, and gaskets and what not. This rear end is probably gonna get swapped out in a year or two once I get some cash built up, but I still want two black marks. And as fun as a spool would be, I'd like to be able to turn. Any input is appreciated.

I know. What I'm wondering is, could it be possible to just swap out the open carrier with the LSD carrier, leaving everything else the same?

You might want to consider putting a powertrax unit in it. This will make both tires spin . It is a bolt on and you do not have to mess with the ring and pinion set up. It is probably around the same price as a posi unit. Plus if you plan on a better set up down the road, you could probably sell it and recoup some of your money back. Timo22

Aren't those lockers? I don't want a straight up locker, all that popping nonsnese. Plus I looked on their site and they don't list a 26 spline LSD. Only 28.

sh*t, that's for a series 3 carrier. But then there is a question down below and it says it will fit into any gm 7.5, which can't be. Series 2 and 3 are different size wise.

400 buxxx???? for a 7.5 part.

Why not just save up some more and get an 8.5 and this way you don't have worry about granading it.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. But with an 8.5 I'd still have to build it, or at least rebuild it. Not all of em came with a posi, most of em are beat up from being in a gn or something else.

I doubt I'd grenade this rear being under 350hp like I am, on street tires. It's not like I'm trying to launch with 600hp and slicks.
