Is a "turkey tray" compatable with a performer rpm?

I have a 350 olds with an edelbrock performer rpm intake, i removed the intake for cleaning and found no valley pan or "turkey tray" as its called. I want to put one on when the intake goes back on but i've heard rumors of them not fitting.

I wouldn't bother. Get a good set of composite intake gaskets and if your worried about oil hitting the bottom of the intake then just cut the sealing surface off the turkey tray and install it as a splash shield.

Olds used the turkey tray under factory aluminum intakes on the W-30 and W-31 motors as well as under A4 and A5 intakes. I've also used it under aftermarket aluminum intakes. It works fine if installed correctly.

IMO works better than composite gaskets. It acts like like a newer exhaust gasket would, where as you tighten it, the sealing surface is crushed to seal very nicely. We put a shot of copper gasket sealer on the tray before tightening just to be safe.

thanks, i would like to install one since it didnt have one before, not because of sealing problems but because of the hot oil splashign the top of it and around the heat riser (burnt on the bottom of intake). I've noticed the intake was getting very hot after a good drive and i always wondered why it was a bit hotter than usual. I'm glad to hear there are no fitment problems with them.

I have the edelbrock high rise intake and used one it fits fine put sealant around the water jackets

Also be sure that the formed flange around each of the four outermost bolt holes fits correctly into the recess in the head. I suspect that failure to do this is one of the main reasons why people have trouble with this gasket.
