I have several extra speedometer heads and would like to at least duplicate the original 9C1 120 mph speedometer or even make a 140 mph speedometer. Lauren Engineering used to make the over lays. I see Ecklers has one for the later speedometer with the trip odometer. Do anyone know anyone capable of making a stock looking over lay?

Besides the overlays, I would think the speedometer head(s) would need to be calibrated accordingly.

I don't think I could place a 115 mph overlay over a 85mph gauge and have it be accurate. That would be nice though.

How about scanning the old one with a flatbed scanner, photoshop the desired scale and have a sticker shop print the new face plate?

Check with United Radio in Syracuse New York. http://www.unitedradio.com/
I had a 86 El Camino I had wanted the speedometer up graded to the 115 mph like in my 88 Super Sport. One of the local Chevrolet dealers had a parts guy who was a 9C1 fanatic and sent the speedometer to United Radio for the conversion. Keep in mind this was about 20 years ago but.....they still do repairs on automotive clusters and may be able to help you!

It can't be this simple, but...
If your current speedometer maxes out at 85, and you want to revise it to go to 140, 85/140 = 0.61 After applying the overlay sticker carefully, find a speedo adapter combination that mechanically underdrives your speedometer cable by this much.
Avast ye scurvy Critics!
