Is it fixable?

you could always just tub it.that would get rid of the rust.all kidding aside, get your build plan together first before you shell out any $.if you want to put bigger tires in the rear now would be the time since you'll be welding back there anyways.also look over the rest of the car with a fine tooth comb so you can get it all the first time.make sure you talk to the body shop and ask if you could do any of the prep(remove interior, bumpers, etc.) that way your only paying them to do bodywork and not something you could do for free.sometimes it's easier, and the work comes out better,if you separate the body/frame.

Way ahead of you godlemmy 😀 ! I'm switching from the 14" stock steel wheels to a set of 15" Rallye II's, I already have the wheels and have done test fits already. Since I'm staying with g body correct wheels all is good there. Right now the car is stripped of everything, interior, glass, trim, lights/grills, etc. I've had a good look and am about 90% sure I know all the issues, but when I talked to the shop owner we talked about him looking it over himself as well. I'm pretty confident in this guy, he's done a lot of the resto's and a ton of custom work in my town. He has a pretty sweet '69 Firebird that he brought from basket case condition to mint, he was showing me progress pictures of it when we were at his shop.
