I installed a new circuit panel on the back of my gauge shadow box. Is there a trick or special way to mount the shadow box making sure everything gets plugged together properly? The first time I hooked up the battery, the right turn signal was flashing in the off position and the headlights were on and flickering. The dash lights did not come on with the doors open. This is on my Elco. There’s no reaching behind to guide it.

Is this thing like old Christmas lights, everything has to be plugged in for anything to work?

Doug, there is no trick to resolve the issues you describe. Unfortunately, what you have to do is methodically perform continuity tests and go through a process of elimination. Did you do anything to the contact point between the new circuit board and the dash? First, clean the pins on the dash connector to ensure these make good contact with the circuit board. Second, pry/lift up the pins of the dash connector as the metal has probably lost some tension over the years. Lastly, what you describe is likely a ground short somewhere. Also, it wouldn't hurt to do a continuity check of the new circuit board to make sure there is no short in the circuit board. Good luck!

I’ve been dicking around off and on for weeks with this dash. Wondering why the multiple dash lights aren’t coming on. I swapped out 2 of the new LED 194s for the originals, they light up like they’re supposed to. All this time and BS, and it turns out to be a bad batch of LEDs.Have to buy more REGULAR 194s now. Also finally tested my new Window Racer, it doubled the speed that they were going up/down but nothing like I’ve read from other people. I gounded it to the bare bracket that holds the steering column in place.

Doug, LEDs are rarely "bad", especially when new. HOWEVER, they are polarity sensitive, so if it doesn't work, flip it around 180 degrees and check again. That the "D" in LED: diode.

I learned that the hard way also. But it has now been learned.
