Is this worth looking into?

Just talked to the seller- engine last ran 3 months ago, no smoke, it's under a tarp. Guy seemed like a good person. If I get $150 by the end of the week, it's as good as mine.

Seller contacted. I think I'm gonna buy it. I just need some quick money. Anyone need their grass cut?
I enjoy cutting my.own grass too much, but I do have a pile of brush that needs removal. 😀

Sounds promising. And 120k isn't much nowadays.

Be sure to post pics once acquired and a again when the build has begun.

I'd remove that brush if only you weren't on the other side of the state. If and when acquired, I'll start an entire thread.

The block on the 95 is not machined for a mechanical fuel pump. The mounting flange is cast but the hole for the pump pushrod is not bored, and the bolt holes are not drilled or tapped, so I would plan on an electric pump and regulator. Sounds like a deal though, I would grab it up.

Thanks, I'm glad you told me. Is there anything else than cannot be switched to manual or non- TBI before I buy this? I basically want this motor with as little electronic components as possible.

The 95 truck 5.7 block I have is running a mechanical pump. If it's not a roller cam it should have the lobe for the mech fuel pump. If it is a roller and has the lobe then you need to use a brass fuel pump rod.

Main question here- will I, or will I not be able to put a carb on it and remove the computer?

you can put a carb on it and remove the computer. If your distributor is computer controlled you'll need one that is not. That 95 should have a serpentine belt so you will probably need an adapter for the alternator.

(Eventually, a long time from now) Once I get it in the car, all I plan on running is PS and an alternator. I don't think the distributor is cc, but I could be wrong. All I get with the engine is the block, heads, valve covers, oil pan, timing chain cover, and all their internal parts. Maybe some other bits and pieces. I know I do not get a water pump, alternator, fuel pump, throttle body, fan, etc. but for $150, I think I'm getting a pretty good start.

if the accessories include the water pump, ps pump and alternator I'd buy them as well. You can't replace those for $50 and it should have a serpentine set up.
