I'm not happy with the 1-2 upshift and the 3-2 downshift. The aftermarket cables have a bit more play within the cable casing. I can get the 1-2 to work ok but the 3-2 doesn't hit the 2nd gear detent unless you pull it over to the 1st gear gate and pull it back a smidge. It works but it's not right. It's like that on all 4 shifters and it does the same on the OG Fbody shifter with the factory cable on a 700r4 trans, so I'm thinking it's a design flaw after the shifter get a little wear on it and loosen up some.
I have a mod I think will fix the issue but life got in the way and I'm knee deep in a Cutlass build at the present time.
The mod is going to take some time on the neighbors mill to lengthen the throw on the 2nd gear gate and the lockout slide, this should give it enough throw to hit the detent up or down shifting.

Can you post a pic of all of it? It's for conversion project so it doesn't have to look good.
