ever buy a car and they tell u it rust free? Yep... so the plan is to ... fix it cause i cant let it die. Unfortunately this el has yrs 9f abuse and i think i can make it better then it was.... so my son brought this 85 el camino and after some work i got the tail lights working and after installing a new gas tank and fuel lines i realized it needed new body bushings. So i figured the weekend after we installed the new car lift we would do the bosy bushings and a new transmission then drive...
well that plan became a frame off restoration.
The goal is to make it safe and dependable daily driver.
i also have a 82 cutlass i have been building and gathering parts for but with work, life and my sons projects i been busy.
We brought a new house and a shop so between my son and i we been buying tools and stuff so we can do everything ourselves.
I been trying to find a frame guy in Pennsylvania to do my gbody cutlass for 4yrs. Now i believe we can notch and brace my frame. So this frame will get some boxing and bracing to help with the rust free frame we have...
and i will also need to make the bodymounts on the body because no one makes them. I also have 3 z nuts to replace oh the fun.... but the cost of the lift alone was paid for in labor alone to do a job like this.
anyone have ideas or suggestions?
Again this will be a daily not a restoration.
i want safe and strong. I will be installing either a built 350 or 383. Not sure yet. I have a new / rebuilt th350. I do have a gn posi rear but thats for my cutlass. Not sure if i will do the 7.5 rear in it or what.
This body also needs floor pans. But i can do those later...i want to drive the el this yr so i wont be fixin all the cosmetic rust issues.

Started with the passenger side transmission mount... that piece is bent like the frame. I will wrap the top of frame and also at the bottom of the frame
