Like it says its just a 260
Well i figured since my project is now down, I should post some pictures.
I bought the cutlass last year, had a 3.8, th200c. and 2:41 gears. Well the 3.8 finally decided that it was time to puke oil everywhere. I also put a 79 header panel on it. So I started looking for a 455 well still driving it. I happen to come upon a 455 in a friends truck, Its .030 making 461 cubes, J smog heads, small cam and a edelbrock performer intake 600 holley. I thought long and hard before paying what he was asking for it. So 2 weeks ago the fun started. I picked up a 700r4 transmission. Big 2 row aluminum rad from my work, pulled the 3.8 and transmission. and cleaned up the wiring a bit. I bought headers and exhaust. had to rework the headers a bit. Running full exhaust header to tail pipe with dynomax ultraflows. I have no during pictures. Just finished pictures and a picture from when i first bought it. Cruises just down the highway fine, doesnt turn alot of rpms with gobs and gobs of torque on tap and never gets over 180. Once i get it dialed in i'll run it down the track and hopefully get it on a dyno.

looks nice. your engine bay could stand a pressure washing though! 🙂

Questions & comments:

How'd you get the 700R4 to bolt to the 461?
Delta 88 front-end swap?

Car crafting at it's best but please keep an eye on those radiator "straps"
Agree with the underhood pressure washing / cleaning...after you'e had fun

That's nothing compared to mine

Gotta love sleepers. The real low first gear of the 700-R4 and the big block are not a great match. Tall tires will help. Especially with the headers a sealed air box and some home made snorkles allowing it to pull fresh out side air from behind the grill will help. Hot underhood heat keeps it from making the power it could. Bowl work bigger valves mild porting or clean up and a performance valve job would do wonders especially with Js. Keep us posted. 8)

461-700r4 is an adapter plate, and the front end is that looks like delta 88 is the original 4 door front end.
I love the big block and 700r4, works amazing, and i love the low first gear. This thing has more then enough power,it runs 180 all day long sitting in traffic, the rad straps are temporary but its alot bolted in in the bottom. I have to wrap my headers and get a starter sheild though. I may dual snorkle it and run some ducting im not sure yet. and of course im buying some aluminum heads in a few months.
