Hmnn only meant to be helpful. Didn't mean to offend if I did. I should have worded that different or better left it out entirely. The 700-R4 is a way better choice and worth the extra work for a driver over a 3 speed. A good bang for the buck also, so kudos and yea I like the car. What I was referring to was the low first gear in the 700 was meant to help small engines get heavy vehicles moving from a stop. Like the early 80s weak 305 in a heavy full size pickup for example. The flip side is it makes an engine like yours that has a high amount of torque at lower rpms step through the torque so fast it really doesn't get to utilize it to accelerate the car. Especially in a lighter car plus it makes spinning tires real eazy. For example if you put a numerically lower first gear in the 700 which can be done she would actually be quicker and 60 foot better at the drag strip. Sorry I brought it up though because its probably irrelivant for your goals for this car as I don't believe you intend to squeeze out every tenth and haven't said anything about rebuilding the trans. But it is why I said tall (rear) tires will help.

Yea I would be a big fan of the aluminum heads. Might recommend they still be cleaned up and the valve job checked by a shop that does performance heads. I had my headers coated on both cars and both times I noticed a considerable difference in underhood heat. Its worth some power and it saves all your hoses, carberator gaskets, just everything from premature heat fatigue. Hey you should put these pics in your photo album so that they are still accessible to anyone long after this post is gone. Maybe some highlights in your signature line as well. Just a suggestion.

I didnt take offence, i was just stating i love my combo, The 700 is from a 9c1 so i dont see a need to rebuild anytime soon. As far as tire spin, it doesnt happen, Im to afraid to get on it hard enough to break the old one wheeler loose. the 2:41 gears give me somewhere between 1000 and 1200 rpm in 4th gear. Thing doesnt move the gas gauge, its my daily driver. so if i lose a tenth of a second oh well. I will race it once the track opens and post times with both my street tires and my stickys. Im really stuck on putting the original header panel back on. gives it more of a sleeper look. Right now im looking for a 70's ford 4bbl EGR plate. I was talked to by a officer about my lack of egr. fords run a carb plate with an egr on it. So im trying to find one of those to make it look like it works. I have a charcoal canister still and two cats on order. Hopefully i can get some racing videos soon.

Ever calculate your mileage? Yea let us know when you get some track times. No doubt a fun driver.

Times have gotten tough, What do you think it is worth? I cant keep trannies in this thing lol. and i cant afford to get a 700r4 built.

**** yeah.

I wish i owned this car, there are so many of theese rice **** around my area, who put a fart can and a wing on there car and think they're fast, but won't actually step to a real, and obvoiusly fast car.

From the outside your car looks like grandpas grocery getter, but under the hood its a ****ing Devil motor.
