We don't like putting China parts on our cars

I don't either but is there really much of a choice these days?

Anyways I'm glad to hear about your positive experience with the Champion. Makes me feel a lot better about going with one.

The Champion is well made for the price. Their 3 core never cooled my 403 that great 195 to 215 and 230+ towing with a 160 thermostat. Ironically it cooled my 94 Z71 much better, never over 185, exact same rad.

My Flowkooler Robertshaw 180°F thermostat came in the mail from Summit today and my thermostat housing came in the mail from RockAuto yesterday. The thermostat is what Bob recommended and the thermostat housing is just a piece of Chinese cast iron. I test fit it and it fits fine. I'm obviously going to paint it before it goes on for good. The mating surface on my original thermostat housing is all gakked and I doubt it'd seal without smothering it in RTV.

I also purchased a non-AC alternator bracket from a member on V8Buick.com but I had to pay via money order so it'll probably take a little longer.

P.S.- it was mildly difficult for me to compose that entire message without swearing.

I would consider boring out that bypass hole in the thermostat housing, if you're comfortable doing that. a drill press would help. I doubt it would hurt anything leaving it, just noticed the hole is smaller than most of the housings I've seen.

I agree, it's a hair narrower than I'd like it, so I'm going to open it up just a little.

Officially revealed to the masses:

2800 bucks. Moderate portwork, chevt valve sizes, 10.5:1, .600 lift cam, 750 Holley, 481hp/430ftlbs.
Something to think about for your spare engine joe... :p

Only $2800 plus another $3k or $4k for Bob to actually make them right.

As for that other engine, I was thinking about making it into a mailbox...
