Took cold to work in the garage right now, so might as well post my build.
The Car.
Bought it in 2007 and built up a cammed ~400HP 383. The 200R4 lasted a few years. Could have gotten a new trans, but i was tired of screwing with the carb, could never get it running right.
Donor vehicle was a 2002 Yukon supposedly with a 4L65E from the RPO codes.
Motor and trans out. Trans was swapped at some point, had the blue torque converter. Pretty sure its a 4l60E.
After seeing Ben's (Built6spdMCSS) T56 swap and videos, decided I wanted to go the manual route.
Found someone selling a T56 and LS2 accessories near Indianapolis. Was pretty close to the Brickyard 400 too, so extra motivation to buy it and catch the race.
Clutch and flywheel has some surface rust. Cleaned it up pretty good with a scotchbright pad. First time driving a manual, so might as well reuse this stuff. No big deal if i burn it up while learning to drive it
The LQ4 block didnt have a mounting hole drilled for the LS2 alternator. Fabbed up a bracket to hold it from the backside.
Garage was pretty crowded for awhile. 3 transmissions, 2 motors and a whole mess of kid's toys. Seemed like I spent more time shifting stuff around than actually working on things
Fiberglassing the HVAC box for clearance. Turned out ok with a coat of paint.
Motor installed for last time.
Wiring! Actually looking forward to this part. I'm an Electical Engineer, so I enjoy bending wires.
Shifter hole cut.
Found some rust in the floor while working on the shifter. This is on my list to fix later.
Getting the clutch pedal mounted. My friend had a pedal from his 80's Z24 Caviler.
After 3+ months of working on it, finally got to take it for a spin around the block. No hood, open headers.
Working on a Blazer brake / Lowering spring swap right now. Will post those pics in a bit.
