Was a few hours away to buy some parts from someone parting out a Monte with 85ss/85gn earlier this spring and decided to see if any yards near there had g-bodies while in that area, one looked promising. On the phone they said they "have a couple" so we didn't expect much but were nearby. Turns out there are about 25-30 g-bodies, some have been there for years it appears and they have remnants of many other g-bodies they must of scrapped out. What is kind of neat and nice of them is that they remove many parts before scrapping it appears and keep the parts together in the same body style car. So a Bonneville g-body has about 20 Bonneville tail lights stashed inside, they have doors stacked together, front clip parts, etc and do this for other makes/models too. Even use some vans as mini storage for parts and label the vans. Easy to deal with and fair prices. Hilltop Auto Salvage in Wausau, WI.

I eyed up the white SS front bumper because it was in really nice shape which is rare it seems for a used one and asked but they were holding it for someone and the whole front clip was gone when we came back.

Your a good man sharing that info on the forum. Some guys would not have said a word and kept this Honey Hole to themselves.

Are you referring to a FB group post recently where the OP didn't disclose the location of a different yard? :D

We grabbed quite a few things, there are more or things we overlooked I'm sure. Not any one thing we *need* to have so rather share than keep it a secret. I assume anyone in that area knows of the place, they seemed like a pretty active yard not like a couple others that are tucked away.

We do plan to go back pretty soon, not sure how many more times I'd go given how far away it is though, might be the last trip I make unless I'm up that way for something else.

If anybody needs parts and you can strike a deal with either one of these guys ( Paul or Derrick ) you won't be disappointed. I have bought from both of them, and they have gone above and beyond what I expected. Both of them are true G Body enthusiasts, and we are lucky to have them on this forum.

Are they friendly at the front office?

The yard I hit up in MN and your WI yard seem hard to work with and would appreciate a yard with a more professional business transaction haha.

Much different experience than with Carl/CL Chase! This is a full operating yard that still gets in newer vehicles but also had a mid 70's LeMans sitting out front they just got in, complete but rough, they have a large building/shop and tons of parts pulled inside of it. Fairly active with people coming and going. Mostly late model things in their building but organized/hung up. He saw our parts and found a 86-88 LS front end stashed on a shelf. When we were there they knew of our interest in the SS's rims, while out in the yard they drove back and said they had some down time and offered to pull them, got it on the forklift to the shop, removed the wheels (and tires) and put it back in the yard so they were waiting for us when we were done. Same with the wagon rear hitch. And pretty easy to deal with and very fair prices. Hate to say cheap but for what we all had we had no issue just paying and loading up. He did like to have us give an amount first, which is a Carl (CL Chase) move. But they aren't there to tell stories and waste our time like he does 🙄🙂

I found the deal of the day yesterday. My buddy hauled a Chevy motorhome home to be junked. I want a set of dually rims and front wheel adapters for a project of mine. So I went over to his house Sunday with my service truck. The wheels are 16.5's and it did not have front wheel adapters. It has funky hubs. So I was going to pass on those parts. I want 16 inch rims not 16.5. I looked under the truck and seen an electric overdrive hanging off the transmission. Talked to my buddy about it, and he said take it if you want it. I only had a hour of light left. So I cut the harness and didn't mess around. So I got a Gear Vender overdrive for a 350 turbo for free!
